八女茶

YAME　TEA
　旧八女郡を中心として八女地方は高級茶の代表的な八女茶の産地です。
一面茶畑が広がる全国でも有名なお茶の名産地ですが、八女茶が取れる量は、全国の約40分の１程度。その貴重な八女茶の出来上がりは気候のせいで他よりも少し遅いのですが、気温差の中で出来上がったお茶は深みがあってとっても美味しいんですよ。

八女茶の特徴
福岡県八女で有名な八女茶は、味が濃厚で甘味が強く、また苦渋味の少ないことで知られ、八女茶、玉露、煎茶として定着し、昭和37年度以降毎年農林水産大臣賞を受賞しており、高級茶産地として全国的に名声が高まっています。

お茶は美味しいお水が決めて
　お茶を上手にいれるには、良い水を選ぶことがポイントです。お茶をおいしくしてくれる水はカルシウムやマグネシウム・鉄などの物質が少ない軟水か、わずかな硬水がよいでしょう。市販のミネラルウォーターを使う際にはこの点に注意します。また、水道水のカルキは日本茶のデリケートな香りを損ねてしまいます。水道水を使用するときには、まず水を半日程度汲み置きします。そしてそれを、３分程沸騰させるとカルキ臭がなくなります。沸騰させたお湯は、お茶の種類にあった適温に冷まして使います。上等なお茶ほど適温が低くなります。
