Shipping policy

1. Overview

This Shipping Policy outlines how orders are processed, handled, and delivered through Janbox. Due to the nature of cross-border commerce and the involvement of third-party sellers and logistics providers, shipping times and conditions may vary depending on multiple factors.

By using Janbox, you acknowledge and agree to the shipping processes, timelines, and responsibilities described in this policy.

2. Shipping Flow

Shipping on Janbox typically involves multiple stages before delivery to the final destination.

For proxy purchases, the process includes:

  • Purchase from a Japanese seller

  • Domestic shipping within Japan to the Janbox warehouse

  • Warehouse processing and storage

  • International shipping to the buyer

For marketplace orders, the process may vary depending on whether the seller ships directly or uses Janbox fulfillment services.

Each stage may involve different timelines and service providers.

3. Domestic Shipping (Within Japan)

For proxy purchases, items must first be shipped from the original seller to the Janbox warehouse in Japan.

Domestic shipping is handled by the seller or local carriers and is subject to:

  • Seller processing time

  • Shipping method selected by the seller

  • Seller location and availability

Janbox does not control domestic shipping timelines and is not responsible for delays caused by sellers or local carriers.

Domestic shipping fees may be charged separately and are typically determined by the seller.

4. Warehouse Processing

Once items arrive at the Janbox warehouse, they will undergo intake processing.

This process may include:

  • Package inspection (basic external check only)

  • Item registration in the system

  • Storage assignment

Processing time typically ranges from 1 to 3 business days, but may be longer during peak periods.

Janbox may also offer additional services such as:

  • Package consolidation (combining multiple orders into one shipment)

  • Repackaging for optimized shipping

  • Optional protective packaging

Additional fees may apply for these services.

5. Storage Policy

Items may be stored in the Janbox warehouse for a limited free storage period, after which storage fees may apply.

Users are responsible for:

  • Monitoring storage duration

  • Initiating shipment within the allowed timeframe

Items left in storage beyond the permitted period without action may be considered abandoned and handled in accordance with our Terms of Service.

6. International Shipping

Once you request shipment, Janbox will arrange international delivery through third-party carriers.

Available shipping methods may include:

  • EMS (Express Mail Service)

  • DHL

  • FedEx

  • Other regional or international carriers

Shipping options may vary depending on destination, package size, and contents.

7. Shipping Fees

International shipping fees are calculated based on several factors, including:

  • Package weight (actual or volumetric weight)

  • Package dimensions

  • Destination country

  • Shipping method selected

  • Additional services (insurance, repacking, etc.)

Shipping fees will be displayed before final confirmation whenever possible.

Users are responsible for all shipping-related costs.

8. Estimated Delivery Time

Delivery times vary depending on shipping method and destination.

Typical estimates:

  • Express services (DHL, FedEx): approximately 3–7 business days

  • EMS: approximately 5–10 business days

These estimates do not include:

  • Seller handling time

  • Warehouse processing time

  • Customs clearance delays

Janbox does not guarantee delivery timelines.

9. Customs, Duties, and Taxes

International shipments may be subject to customs duties, taxes, and import fees imposed by the destination country.

Users are solely responsible for:

  • Paying all applicable customs charges

  • Providing accurate information for customs declarations

  • Complying with local import regulations

Failure to comply may result in delays, additional fees, or confiscation of goods.

10. Risk of Loss and Damage

Risk of loss or damage to items transfers to the user once the shipment is handed over to the international carrier, unless otherwise specified.

Janbox is not liable for:

  • Loss, theft, or damage during transit

  • Delays caused by carriers or customs authorities

Users are strongly encouraged to purchase shipping insurance where available.

11. Address Accuracy

Users are responsible for providing accurate and complete shipping addresses.

Janbox shall not be responsible for:

  • Delivery failures due to incorrect or incomplete addresses

  • Additional charges resulting from re-delivery or address correction

12. Failed Delivery and Returns

If a shipment cannot be delivered due to:

  • Incorrect address

  • Failure to pay customs duties

  • Refusal to accept the package

The shipment may be returned, destroyed, or abandoned, depending on carrier policies. Any additional costs incurred will be the responsibility of the user.

13. Shipping Restrictions

Certain items may be restricted or prohibited from international shipping due to legal or carrier regulations.

Users must comply with all applicable rules regarding restricted items as outlined in our Prohibited Items policy.

Janbox reserves the right to refuse shipment of any item deemed restricted or unsafe.

14. Delays and Force Majeure

Shipping delays may occur due to circumstances beyond Janbox’s control, including but not limited to:

  • Natural disasters

  • Customs inspections

  • Carrier disruptions

  • Political or regulatory changes

Janbox shall not be held liable for such delays.
